about eg3.com and our partner program
-
eg3.com is the oldest and largest portal and news service for embedded systems, RTOS / Real-time, DSP, FPGA, and boards (PC/104, CompactPCI, AdvancedTCA, VME, etc.). Our site runs over 50,000 user sessions per month, and over 43,000 people subscribe to our e-clips service. NEW for 2008 are our Insiders' Guides, on FPGAs, RTOSes, embedded services, Google, and more.
These help OEM project managers and engineers to identify viable business partners for their service, programming, or design needs.
Our partner program encourages mutual Web links between us and those companies active in this market. eg3.com partners submit their own company descriptions which show up on a priority basis in our online and PDF Buyers Guides, during searches by purchasers and buyers of embedded hardware, software, and/or services.

Embedded applications normally spend their time either in active or in sleep mode some periods the CPU is running code and processing something while the rest of the time the microcontroller is waiting or idling and should stay in a low power mode.
With more and more portable and hand-held applications, wireless networks and sensors, and battery operated appliances, sleep modes have become important.
Nevertheless it is equally important that the MCU is able to deliver performance without ruining the power budget while the CPU is active.
Atmel's picoPower technology saves energy while maintaining MCU performance.
picoPower enabled microcontrollers incorporate a number of techniques for reducing the power consumption in both active and sleep modes and still react quickly from any sleep mode.
