Introducing the FireCracker!
Based on Analog Devices popular Blackfin embedded processor, Silica has developed the FireCracker Development and Reference Design Platform for audio and video applications. FireCracker is a unique concept of a hybrid between a development board and a reference design that enables design engineers to bring embedded computing solutions from concept to production in record time.

Fast-UXGA Frame Grabber Series
The Fast-UXGA frame grabber series is for users who anticipate a demand for extreme I/O requirements or higher bandwidth, complex image processing and real-time fast storage in a cost effective platform. The base Fast-UXGA, is a raw-length PCI board with two (four-mixed) UXGA analog conversion channels using Analog Device's AD9888. The front end data is formatted and preprocessed by a FPGA before being sent to the memory subsection, processor, GigE interfaces or other outputs. Finally, the Fast-UXGA interfaces to the host computer through a PCI-X or 4x PCIe interface for state-of-the-art data acquisition. Options include the addition of multiple (8) Serial ATA (SATA) 150 MB/sec interfaces for continuous high-speed data storage without the usual OS or host bus transfer delays.

X5-210M
The X5-210M is an XMC IO module featuring four 14-bit 250 MSPS A/Ds with a Virtex5 FPGA computing core, DRAM and SRAM memory, and eight lane PCI Express host interface. A Xilinx Virtex5 SX95T with 512MB DDR2 DRAM and 4MB QDR-II memory provide a very high performance DSP core for demanding applications such as emerging wireless standards. The close integration of the analog IO, memory and host interface with the FPGA enables real-time signal processing at extremely high rates exceeding 300 GMACs per second.

Dr. R. David Middlebrook Analog Tutorial & Online Course
Two professors, Don Peter at Seattle Pacific U and Arthur Witulski, then at the U of Arizona Tucson, pressed me to conduct an Analog Workshop for instructors to consider the question 'Could, and Should, the D-OA approach be adopted in a first-level circuits course?' The outcome was unanimously positive, as was that of a second workshop conducted a year later. Spearheaded by Marcelo Simoes, a professor at the Colorado School of Mines, Don...
