Analogue Electronics @ Wikipedia
Analogue electronics (or analog in American English) are those electronic systems with a continuously variable signal.
In contrast, in digital electronics signals usually take only two different levels.
The term 'analogue' describes the proportional relationship between a signal and a voltage or current that represented the signal.

Wikipedia: Mixed-signal integrated circuit
A mixed-signal integrated circuit combines analog circuits with digital signal processing (DSP) circuits on a single semiconductor die. An integrated circuit that includes both analog and digital circuitry (but no DSP), like a 555 timer, is generally not considered a mixed-signal integrated circuit.
Typically, mixed-signal chips perform some whole function or sub-function in a larger assembly such as the radio subsystem of a cell phone,...

Fast-UXGA Frame Grabber Series
The Fast-UXGA frame grabber series is for users who anticipate a demand for extreme I/O requirements or higher bandwidth, complex image processing and real-time fast storage in a cost effective platform.
The base Fast-UXGA, is a raw-length PCI board with two (four-mixed) UXGA analog conversion channels using Analog Device's AD9888.
The front end data is formatted and preprocessed by a FPGA before being sent to the memory subsection, processor, GigE interfaces or other outputs.
Finally, the Fast-UXGA interfaces to the host computer through a PCI-X or 4x PCIe interface for state-of-the-art data acquisition.
Options include the addition of multiple (8) Serial ATA (SATA) 150 MB/sec interfaces for continuous high-speed data storage without the usual OS or host bus transfer delays.
