Smart Card Overview
A smart card is a card that is embedded with either a microprocessor and a memory chip or only a memory chip with non-programmable logic. The microprocessor card can add, delete, and otherwise manipulate information on the card, while a memory-chip card (for example, pre-paid phone cards) can only undertake a pre-defined operation.

smart card System Design
Most smart card programming consists of writing programs on a host computer that send commands to and receive results from predefined or application-specific smart cards. These applications read data from and write data to the smart card and perhaps make use of the modest computing powers of the processor on the smart card.
